Military Intelligence Musuem - Memorial Installation
The Military Intelligence Museum is dedicated to the history of the Intelligence Corps. As part of a programme of improvements at the museum, Heritage Multimedia Limited has designed a commemorative installation holding records of all service men and women who have fallen during their service in the corps.

The exhibit compliments the corps book of remembrance, which lists all casualties on active service from its inception to the modern day. It takes as its basis detailed research, completed by a Museum Trustee, into the lives and service of each casualty. It lifts this information from the page and transforms it into a comprehensive and sensitive exhibition.

Heritage Multimedia worked closely with the museum to create an exhibit appropriate to the nature of the content. We designed a bespoke housing, utilising natural materials and powerful iconography to create a respectful setting for the content, and a private and contemplative place for family members and visitors to read about loved ones and colleagues.

We developed software that enables visitors to easily access detailed accounts of the service men and women’s lives, and creates a rich visual display of information on each and every casualty, but which always remains sensitive to the nature of the content.

The system consists of three information display screens and one controlling touch screen mounted in a bespoke enclosure. The visitor uses the touch screen to search for casualties, for example based on where they died or their name. Information about a casualty (including life before the military, military career, final service, theatre of conflict, imagery and photographs) is then displayed on the three screens turning the entire installation into an exhibit dedicated to that person.

The system holds records for several hundred casualties. These records include detailed biographies, reports on the conflicts and many photographs and original documents.

For this exhibit, Heritage Multimedia delivered a fully integrated and complete solution. We designed the three dimensional physical structure, the software and specified and procured the hardware. The exhibit was designed with day-to-day operation in mind and can be switched on and off at the turn of a key lock. We also provided the museum with a management tool enabling staff to add new records and modify existing records to maintain the currency of the installation.
