The installation of the Colour Technology and Communication exhibition at the Colour Museum, Bradford UK.
The exhibition uses a combination of physical interactives, computer-based experiments, graphic panels and original artefacts to provide visitors with an understanding of:
The basic colour terms hue, brightness and saturation, and their interaction.
The use of spectrophotometers in colour measurement.
The use of colour measurement in industry.
For the project Heritage Multimedia Ltd successfully integrated a 25-year-old spectrophotometer (colour measurement instrument) with a modern computer to provide visitors with a "spectrophotometer workstation" for performing interactive experiments.
The workstation enables visitors to measure the colour of various fabric samples and then view the resulting spectrum.
Since the workstation actually uses the scientific equipment to take the measurement it can also measure any sample placed in the machine, rather than using predefined samples.
"With physical sampling now a thing of the past, this latest display will show how colours can be matched, measured and communicated in a fraction of the time it took using physical samples." - Colour Museum Curator.
